What does it mean being a body made of water? Mermaid of the Hypersea is a transformational practice – to become a mermaid of the hypersea. The work investigates the mermaid as an anthropomorphisation of waters, as a diva and a queer-icon. Via siren song, dance, rituals with body fluids, tea, tap water, fruit colour, peppermint oil, water containers, plants and humans, a dance performance is created, one that addresses gender, identity, (de)construction, love and powerlessness. Mermaid of the Hypersea is a celebration of the liquid, the feminine, emotional and the leaking. Snorre Hansen is a dancer and choreographer and, as a part of DANSEatelier, he works with collective structures about dance, in dance and with dance.
